Those who know me know that I am a total Nike girl. I do have a few things from Lululemon, Gap and Forever 21, but Nike has my heart.

Pretty Muddy Race Promo Code

Wanna get muddy?

I know I’ve been dying to do a mud race for quite some time now! Even more interesting, this one is an obstacle mud run / 5k!

“Pretty Muddy was started by a couple of businessmen who were inspired by their wives – their pretty cool wives. Watching their partners juggle kids, households, carpools and careers – while still having time for the occasional ladies’ night – got the men thinking:

These awesome women deserve more time for themselves. Time for balance and time to be themselves without their families. Because even the greatest mom, businesswoman or grandma sometimes needs time that is just her own.

Like those pretty cool wives, today’s women are looking for a way to get together and focus on friendship, fun and fitness – without their significant others, their kids and the stress of the daily grind.

With the help of their wives and an incredible team of creative and motivated people, the two businessmen created an inaugural series of events called Pretty Muddy.

More than a mud run, it’s an exciting women-only event where you can let your hair down and have fun! And that’s pretty awesome.”

Chocolate Almond Protein Bar Recipe

I finally got around to making this recipe this weekend, which I found on It was too good not to share again with you guys. I went into it, not expecting much. Eh, I’m no where near a good “baker” so was almost positive it wouldnt turn out. (I know, so optimistic right?)  Well, it turned out fantastic! I had my boyfriend taste test these, then a quest bar and he said that mine tasted better! Shh…dont tell anyone. 🙂

1 cup raw almonds
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
5 ounces  vanilla protein powder
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup dairy-free chocolate chips (optional- I left these out)

  1. Prepare an 8 x 8-inch square pan by lining with parchment paper or cooking spray.
  2. Measure out 1/4 cup of the almonds, chop, and set aside for the topping.
  3. In a food processor, pour in the remaining 3/4 cup of almonds and the salt. Process until you have almond butter, several minutes.
  4. Add the oats, protein powder, and maple syrup, and process until smooth.
  5. Press mixture into the pan using the back of a spoon. Top with chopped almonds, pressing those into the bars.
  6. Place chocolate chips in a small glass bowl, and microwave until melted. Drizzle chocolate over the bars, and allow to set in the fridge for 20 minutes before cutting.
  7. Store uneaten bars in an airtight container in the fridge.

The only problem I encountered was the fact that the bars were not sticking as well and the mixture felt too crumbly. My fix- adding a tablespoon of coconut oil.

These can definitely be mistaken for a dessert….but nope! Totally vegan, 13 grams of protein per 166 calorie serving. Such a good snack, which I cant stop snacking on.

Enjoy! xo

What I Ate Wednesday (Veggie Edition)

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, but thought I’d link up for a “What I Ate Wednesday” post…especially since it’s “love your veggies” month.

I am still counting macros and sticking to my meal plan (97% of the time). Definitely seeing some results, but eager to keep going and see much more! Here is what I ate:

PicMonkey Collage

  • Breakfast before work: Cellucor whey protein shake with almond milk
  • Around 10-11am: 2/3 cup oatmeal, apple
  • Lunch: pre-made lemon chicken from Trader Joes (LOVE these when I’m not in the mood to cook!) , green beans (always ENDLESS veggies) and 1/2 cup sweet potatoes
  • Snack: Fage greek yogurt, cookies and cream quest bar (have you tried?!)
  • Pre workout: Ezekiel bread with nut butter (my fave!!!!) & pre-workout drink “PRE”
  • Post Workout: Cellucor BCAA’s
  • Dinner: 1/2 turkey sandwich (random craving) and small piece of tilapia with broccoli
  • Before bed: Mix of 1 scoop casein, 1 TBS unsweetened cocoa powder, and water. Mix and freeze. (Another nightly fave, not pictured)

Let’s just say, all this training definitely builds up my appetite! I am constantly eating and building muscle. YES!

Do you use MyFitnessPal? I feel like its a lifesavor! I enter all of my meals and it calculates just about everything. My username is FitnessandtheCity if you would like to find me on there. 🙂

Since were on the subject of veggies…..I found this recipe which I’m dying to try: chickpea, quinoa and vegetable cakes. Will let you guys know how they turn out!

Also dying to make this recipe: Protein powder valentine’s truffles (WOWSERS)ask-the-protein-chef-truffles-1b

Thanks for reading! xo
